Stakeholder Advisory Council Call for Nominations
Update January 9, 2012: The Call for Nominations has come to a close.
You’re invited… to help shape Canada’s payments system!
Each year, the CPA invites stakeholder organizations to nominate individuals for membership on the CPA's Stakeholder Advisory Council (SAC), one of the key channels through which the Association seeks input from the users of Canada's payment systems. Council members represent the views of the CPA's broad stakeholder base, including consumers, businesses, retailers, and governments, as well as related service providers.
Are you a candidate?
The ideal nominee will effectively represent the views of their community of users or service providers, work cooperatively with other stakeholders with diverse perspectives, and actively contribute to the CPA's Stakeholder Advisory Council. Nominees should have:
- current responsibility for, or experience in, payment-related matters or financial operations;
- a working knowledge of Canada’s payment, clearing and settlement systems; and
- previous experience in representing a stakeholder community.
To nominate yourself, or someone you know, for membership on the Council, complete the nomination form below and attach a CV for the nominee. The deadline to submit a nomination to the CPA for consideration by the Council is Friday, January 6, 2012.
Examples of recent initiatives on which the Council has provided input include proposed amendments to CPA rules to facilitate mobile payments (including offline debit transactions and PIN-less point-of-service transactions), a review of Canada's current framework for the clearing and settlement system, and the development of the CPA's Technology Strategy. The Council's input was also sought on the CPA's Image Project (an initiative which has created enhanced efficiencies in the clearing system via the use of image technology), and on the analysis of a modernized, international set of standards for the payments sector.
During 2011, SAC established a list of top priorities that stakeholders in the payments system believe merit action, and engaged in discussions and idea exchanges with the Chair of the federal Task Force for the Payments System Review.
