Board of Directors

In accordance with provisions of the Canadian Payments Act, the CPA’s Board of Directors is composed of 16 members, of which six are elected by the bank class, two by centrals and four by the other membership classes, with the allocation of those four seats determined by the clearing volumes of each class. Three directors are appointed by the Minister of Finance.  The Chair is an official appointed by the Bank of Canada.  Alternates are designated for the Chair (i.e.  a Deputy Chair) and for the 12 positions elected by the various membership classes.
